James Daniel Gilman

Rockford, IL, James Daniel Gilman, age 78, passed away at his home. James was born July 17, 1939 in Dixon, IL the son of Clifford and Lillie (Waggoner) Gilman. James married Lavon Mortenson on August 30, 1964 in Rock Falls, IL. He was employed at Barber-Colman Factory in Rockford, IL; retiring in 1999. James served in the US Air Force from 1961-1965. James has lived in the Rockford area since 1964. His hobby included painting and restoring old cars. James is survived by his wife: Lavon Gilman, Rockford, IL; Daughter: Laurie Gilman, Beloit, WI; 3 sisters: Clara (Jean) Berg, Clinton, IA; Beverly (Warren) Stultz, Mt. Morris, IL; Edna Boyer, Battle Creek, MI. Predeceased by his parents and brother John P. Gilman. Graveside services will be held on Friday July 6, 2018 at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon, IL at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be Friday, July 6, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. until service time at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon, IL. Officiating is Randy Parker. Memorials to be established at a later date.
