Mt. Morris, IL: James Louis Bennett, age 81, died Sunday December 30, 2012 in his home. Jim was born March 4, 1931 in Ogle County, IL, the son of John P. & Mable M. (Stonebreaker) Bennett. Jim graduated from Stillman Valley High School. Jim was in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict; receiving National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and The Korean Service Medal. Jim married Janet Lee Anderson on November 12, 1955 in South Elgin, IL. Jim was a member of the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge, Dixon Elks, Leaf River Fire Department, and a life member of V.F.W. Jim is survived by his wife; Janet Bennett, Mt. Morris, IL; Son: Charles (Joanie) Bennett, Charlotte, NC; Daughter: Julie (Bob) McCullough, Amboy, IL. Granddaughters: Melissa (Anthony Williams) Ellis, Belvidere, IL; Ann Goley, Oregon, IL; Gabrielle McCullough, Amboy, IL; Allison Bennett, Charlotte, NC. 2 Great-Granddaughters: Hailey-Jane Becker, Amboy, IL and Natalie Jane Woods, Charlotte, NC. Brothers: Robert Bennett, Leaf River, IL and Frank (Gale) Bennett, Princeton, IL; Sister: Joanne (James) Proper, Dixon, IL. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Brothers: Paul and Carl Bennett; Sisters: Harriet Maas, Mary Rasmussen, and Ruth Bennett. Private family services will be in Oakland Cemetery, Freeport, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded by Finch Funeral Home, Mt. Morris, IL.
