Mount Morris, IL - Harold Norman Wright, 77, of Mount Morris died Friday, May 8, 2009, at home. Born April 9, 1932, in Walnut, the son of Albert and Marie (Purvis) Wright. Harold lived in Mount Morris for the last 33 years, coming from Galt. Served in the U.S. Air Force during the 1950s. He married Susan J. Haan on Aug. 8, 1953, in Brackley, Northamptonshire, England. Employed for 29 years as a supervisor of communications for the Illinois State Police, District 16, Pecatonica, retiring in 1991. Attended Disciples United Methodist Church. Harold had many various interests in serving his community, including Cub master of Pack 333, Mount Morris American Legion, snowmobiling, amateur ham radio, sergeant on the Mount Morris police reserve and chairman to the Mount Morris planning commission. Survivors include wife, Sue; daughters, Suzanne (Jack) Thompson of Oregon, Mary (Robert) Burke Jr. of Janesville, Wis., and Michelle Bolhous of Dixon; sons, Mark Wright of Duluth, Minn., Steven (Gina) Wright of Breese and David Wright of Mount Morris; 11 grandchildren; and brother, Gene (Carol) Wright of Savanna. Predeceased by his father. Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, in Disciples United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lora Zink, pastor, officiating. Burial in Plainview Cemetery. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 11, in Finch Funeral Home, 405 E. Hitt. Memorials to village of Mount Morris, Avenue of Flags Project. Visitation: Monday, May 11, 2009 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.
