H Harlan Baker

Mt. Morris, IL, H. Harlan Baker, age 96, passed away on Friday February 22, 2019 in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Morris, IL. Harlan was born December 12, 1922 in Pine Creek Township, IL, the son of Harry H. & Bertha (Tholen) Baker. Harlan graduated from Mt. Morris High School Class of 1940 and he received his B.S. in Engineering from the University of Illinois class of 1948. Harlan married Marion Knodle on March 22, 1947 in Mt. Morris, IL; and she preceded him in death on November 5, 2015. Harlan served in the United States Army during WWII in Europe. Harlan worked as an engineer with the Marketing Department at Commonwealth Edison, retiring in 1981 after 35 years. Harlan lived his life in Northern Illinois and Mt. Morris Area. Harlan was a member of the Mt. Morris Disciples United Methodist Church, Methodist Men's Club, Methodist Board of Trustees, Kiwanis, National Woodcarver's Association, Mt. Morris VFW #3639, Illinois State 4-H Committee, American Legion, Board Member Plainview Cemetery, Senior Citizens Board Member, Registered Professional Engineer State of Illinois, American Institute of Plant Engineers, and he taught at the Chicago Lighting Institute for 6 years. Harlan is survived by his children: Robert (Maria) Baker, Cary, IL and Susan (Allen) Skaggs, Tampa, FL; 2 grandchildren: Lina Marie, St. Paul, MN and Patrick Robert Baker, Woodstock, IL; sister in law: Lila Baker, Mt. Morris, IL. Harlan is preceded in death by his Parents; Wife: Marion; brothers: Francis and Sherwood Baker. Memorial services will be held in July 13, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in The Disciples United Methodist Church, Mt. Morris, IL. Burial was held in Plainview Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL. Visitation will be held on July 13, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. until service time in the church. Memorials to Disciples United Methodist Church and/or Mt. Morris Senior Center.
