Leaf River, IL, Glen M. Borneman, age 94, died Monday October 26, 2015 in Swedish American Hospital, Rockford, IL. Glen was born on October 5, 1921 in Leaf River, IL the son of Fred & Gladys (Mayer) Borneman. He graduated from Leaf River High School, Leaf River, IL. Glen was a paratrooper in the Army Air Corp. during World War II. Glen married Irene Dietrich on October 23, 1948 in Cahokia, MO, and Irene preceded him in death on September 24, 2012. Glen was a director on the board of German American State Bank, held a full seat on the Chicago Board of Trade, was a 50 year member of the Leaf River American Legion #1148, a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church, and a member of the NRA. He owned and operated Leaf River Land & Cattle and Rock Cut Quarry. One of his greatest joys was taking care of his cattle on the Leaf River Ranch. He was an avid reader, an historian of the local area, and a great storyteller. His legacy and spirit will live on in the Leaf River Valley and forever in our hearts. Morris, IL; Nick Heidenreich, Leaf River, IL. Great-Grandchildren: Adam and Emmitt Weber, Winnebago, IL; Annika Borneman, Helena, MT; Jillian Torre, Pecatonica, IL; Carly Torre, Cherry Valley, IL; Andrew Heidenreich, Pecatonica, IL. Glen is preceded in death by his parents; Wife: Irene; Sister: Elverna Faulkner. Memorial services will be held Friday October 30, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in St. James Lutheran Church, Forreston, IL with Rev. Steven Erikson officiating. Burial will be in West Grove Cemetery, Forreston, IL. Visitation will be held Thursday October 29, 2015 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials to St. James Lutheran Church.
