Gilbert Lowe

Mt. Morris, IL, Gilbert Lowe, age 93, formerly of Rochelle, IL, died Monday February 1, 2016 in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Morris, IL. Gilbert was born April 4, 1922 in Wayne County, IL the son of Charlie & Inez (Porter) Lowe. Gilbert served in The United States Army during WWII in Normandy and Northern France. Gilbert married Dorothy E. Hood on April 15, 1944 in Brownwood, TX and she preceded him in death on December 18, 1992. Gilbert was a Life Member of Floyd J. Tilton VFW Post, Rochelle serving as Past Commander from 1967-1968. Gilbert is survived by his Sisters: Leila Ann (Elmer) White, Diamond, MO; Mary Lowe, Mt. Morris, IL; Brother in Law: Herman Hood, Naples, FL; Sisters in Law: Helen Gaston, Bogard, MO, Judy Ehrhart and Lea Neff both of Wayne City, IL; several Nieces and Nephews; Special Friends: Steve Armbruster, Mt. Morris, IL; Jerry (Ann) Tannahill, Cisne, IL, and Larry (Ellen) Miller and Family, Oregon, IL. Gilbert is preceded in death by his Parents; Wife: Dorothy; Brothers: Earl, Theodore, Robert, and Stanley; Sisters: Rose Whitson, Louise Bullard, and Wilma Sager. Funeral Service will be held on Friday February 5, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL with Rev. Rodney Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in Flagg Center Cemetery, Flagg Center, IL. Visitation will be held Friday February 5, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. until service time in Finch Funeral Home.
