Gerald D. Knodle

Mt. Morris, IL, Gerald “Jerry” D. Knodle, age 91, passed away suddenly on Tuesday December 10, 2024 in KSB Hospital, Dixon, IL.  Jerry was born on March 8, 1933 in Rockford, IL the son of Harold M. & Mamie P. (Henderson) Knodle.  He graduated from Mt. Morris High School class of 1951.  Jerry received his BS degree from Northern Illinois University. He served in the US Navy from 1952 to 1956.

Jerry married Anne Belrose on June 14, 1959 in First Methodist Church, Aurora, IL.

Jerry worked in public relations for Blue Cross/ Blue Shield of Illinois for 16 years, and he also worked for Lederle Laboratories and Rockford Anesthesiology. He was the past Master and Secretary for the Samuel H. Davis Masonic Lodge for 50 years, American Legion, and he was a village trustee, served on board of the Mt. Morris Fire and Ambulance, and presently serving on the Mt. Morris Library Board.  He was a member of the Mt. Morris Disciples United Methodist, where he held many positions of leadership and was a long time member of the choir. He loved gardening, traveling, and spending time with family.

He loved his Wednesday coffee at the Senior Center.  He was a Chicago sports fan through and through.

Jerry is survived by his Wife: Anne, Mt. Morris, IL; children: Kris (John) Mueller, Stillman Valley, IL, Jeff Knodle, Hoffman Estates, IL, Kara (Rodd) Rosenthal, Colgate, WI; 9 grandchildren: Jeremy (Jodi) Mueller, Shaun (Laura) Mueller, Robert Mueller, Andy Knodle, Justin Knodle, Stephen Knodle, Amy Knodle, Stuart Rosenthal, and Emma Rosenthal; 4 great grandchildren: Trevor, Carter, Rowan, and Silas Mueller; sister in law: Darlene Knodle; cousins, and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; brother: Richard D. Knodle; granddaughter: Jennifer Mueller.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday December 14, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in Disciples United Methodist Church, Mt. Morris with Pastor Marcia Peddicord officiating.  Burial of cremains will be held in Plainview Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL.  A visitation will be held on Saturday December 14, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
