Mt. Morris, IL, Frederick Lyman Clow, age 78, died Sunday June 11, 2017 in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Morris, IL. Fred was born July 16, 1938 in Rockford, IL the son of Nathan Pierce & Ruth Elizabeth (Dexter) Clow. Fred graduated from Rockford East High School class of 1956 where he played basketball for the ERABS when Rockford West was winning 2 state basketball championships. Fred went on to play forward/center for the Wisconsin Badgers, graduating from University of Wisconsin in 1960 with a BS in Physical Education. Fred lived in Chicago over 25 years, working as a representative for Schlitz Beer. He taught himself acrylic portrait painting and enjoyed painting for many years. He also enjoyed gardening, his two dogs (Bo and Tanner), Nash Recreation Center, and he was a member of the Wisconsin Club. Fred is survived by his brother: Nathan Clow of Mt. Morris, IL; sister- in-law: Maria Adela Clow, Oregon ,IL; and niece and nephew. Fred is preceded in death by his parents and brother: Dexter. Memorial services will be at a later date. Fred spent the last 7 years of his 15-year battle with Parkinson's disease at Pinecrest Manor. His family would like to thank the residents and staff at Pinecrest for their kindness and support all those years.
