Francis "Mike" Michael

Mt. Morris, IL, Francis C. Michael (known as Mike to friends), age 93, died Thursday March 16, 2017 in Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon, IL. Mike was born September 18, 1923 in Rochelle, IL, the son of Francis E. & Anna L. (Paul) Michael. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School class of 1941. Mike served in the Pacific as an Army Medic from 1942 to 1945. Mike married Doris Hoffman on April 26, 1947 in Oregon, IL and she preceded him in death on March 23, 2015 after 68 years of marriage. Mike worked from Kable Printing Company as an Electrotyper. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW. Mike enjoyed music and he played in the 129th Infantry Band from 1939-1941, Kable Concert Band, and the local clown band. He enjoyed flying and he flew out of the Polo airport. He also was a member of the civil Air Patrol. Mike is survived by his daughters: Linda L. (John) Larson, Rock Falls, IL and Janet K. (Dennis) Black, Normal, IL; grandchildren: Valerie Larson, Rock Fall, IL, Matthew (Christina) Larson, Rock Falls, IL, Michael (Melissa) Black, Bloomington, IL, Douglas (Amanda) Black, Normal, IL, Heather (Seann) Berrocales, Normal, IL, Jaime (Joshua) Peters, Bloomington, IL; 16 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday March 22, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL with Rev. Josh Ehrler officiating. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL. Visitation will be on Wednesday March 22, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. until service time in Finch Funeral Home. Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church and/or Serenity Hospice & Home.
