Frances Louise Murray

Frances Louise Broyles Murray, 88, of Mt. Morris, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Serenity Hospice Home in Oregon, IL. She was born on January 19, 1927 near Fayetteville in Lincoln County, Tennessee, the daughter of Hosea and Mamie Broyles. Fran received her Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics from Middle Tennessee State College in 1948. On November 17, 1951 she married John William (Bill) Murray in Quincy, Illinois. Frances loved nothing more than to be with her family, and she filled their lives with love and good cooking. She was also a talented seamstress and enjoyed spending hours making gifts for family and friends. Frances and Bill enjoyed traveling and visiting relatives. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Mt. Morris. Predeceased by husband, Bill Murray, brother Horace Broyles, sister Evelyn Murray, and brother-in-law, Richard Murray. Survived by her children: Jon (Diane) Murray, of Mt. Morris, Mark (Julie) Murray of Winnebago, and Susan Murray Heeg of Eau Claire, WI; grandchildren Hanni (Steve) Guinn, Will Murray, Anna Murray, Ben Murray, Luciann and Emilia Heeg, great granddaughters Eleanor and Miriam Guinn, brother Hal (Charlotte) Broyles; nephews Rick (Pam) Murray, Bruce (Geri) Murray; nieces Anne (Dan) Stenoien, and Jean Murray. In addition, she opened her heart to exchange students: "son" Victor from Bolivia, and "grandchildren" Trang and Ha Anh from Vietnam, Tom from Taiwan and Evgeny from Ukraine. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, December 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Disciples United Methodist Church, 102 Maple Ave., Mt. Morris, preceded by a time for visiting the family from 9:00 - 10:45 a.m. Cremation rites were accorded. Private burial will be held at a later date. Memorials to the United Methodist Church.
