Flossie E Horst

Mt. Morris, IL, Flossie E. Horst, 91, died Monday September 28 ,2015 in KSB Hospital, Dixon, IL with her family by her side. Flossie was born October 25, 1923 in Morrison, IL the daughter of Samuel M. & Edith C. (Hensler) Witmer. Flossie graduated from Sterling High School, and she received a Nursing degree from Sterling Public Hospital, which she was the last graduating class. Flossie married Leland Horst on August 29, 1948 in Forreston, IL; and he preceded her in death on May 24, 2003. Flossie was a nurse for the Sterling Hospital, and spent most of her nursing career with Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Morris, IL. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, canning, sewing, and spending her time with her family. Flossie is survived by her 4 children: Dorothy (Rodney) Fuchs, Monroe, WI; Eugene (Barbara) Horst, Fieldbrook, CA; Leann Horst, Mt. Morris, IL; Janice (Bob) Parker, Jacksonville, F; 12 Grandchildren; and 12 Great-Grandchildren; 2 Sisters: Lorna Witmer, Sterling, IL and Alice (Merle) Ebersole, Dixon, IL; and several Nieces and Nephews. She is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband: Leland; 3 Brothers: Harry, Cliff, and Hank; Sisters: Ethel, Gladys, Mable, and Mary Emily. Funeral Services will be Saturday October 3, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. in Oregon 1st Baptist Church, Oregon, IL with Pastor Jared Cochran officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Park, Freeport, IL. Visitation will be held Friday October 2, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL. In lieu of flowers memorial to be established.
