Florence Ruth Myers

Mt. Morris, IL, Florence R. (Ruth) Myers, age 97, passed from this life quietly on October 6, 2022.  Ruth was born on June 29, 1925 in Washington; the daughter of Frank & Florence (Ingram) Mitchell.  She graduated from Mt. Morris High School; after high school she became an air traffic controller during WWII.  While she was in air traffic controller, she met and married William C. Myers a Marine in 1944.  They were married until William’s death for 59 years.

During her life Ruth spent time working for the Mt. Morris Index, and as a secretary for Trinity Lutheran Church for 23 years.  After retirement she went to work at Rahn Elementary School holding numerous positions.

Ruth is survived by son: William D. Myers, Capron, IL; daughter: Helen C. (Jim) Branthaver, Poplar Grove, IL; 5 grandchildren: Mark (Tonya) Branthaver, Joel (Mellissa) Branthaver, Sarah Branthaver Wehrwein, William P. Myers, and Daniel P. Myers; 14 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husband: William C.; granddaughter: Angela Ruth Doherty Richards; and grandson: Joshua Paul Branthaver.

Funeral services will be held on Friday October 14, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Morris, IL; with Rev. Josh Ehrler officiating.  Burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL.  Visitation be held on Friday October 14, 2022 from 9:00 A.M.  until service time in Trinity Lutheran Church.
