MOUNT MORRIS - Ethel G. Rowland, 91, former longtime resident of Seward and Forreston, passed away Sept. 1, 2010, in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home. Born Oct. 30, 1918, in Winnebago Township to Amos G. Rowland and Maude E. (Knodle) Rowland. Graduate of Winnebago High School, Class of 1936. Employed as a clerk at Oren's Grocery Store in Seward, and as a clerk for the U.S. post office in Seward and Egan. Member of United Brethren Church in Egan, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a women's missionary associate. Survived by sister, Ruby Van Brocklin of Leaf River; nieces, Barbara Harris of Pecatonica, Delores Schrader of Johnstown, Pa., Judith A. Russo of Elkhart, Ind., and Lorna Van Brocklin of Mount Morris; and sister-in-law, Lucille Rowland of Pecatonica. Predeceased by parents; brother, Clarence Rowland; sisters, Erma Denekas and Hazel Rowland; and niece, Linda Rowland. Service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, in Evangelical Free Church, Mount Morris, with visitation from 1 p.m. to time of service; the Rev. Larry Jameson will officiate. Burial in Lightsville Cemetery, Lightsville. Memorials to Pinecrest Manor or Evangelical Free Church. Arrangements by Finch Funeral Home.
