Edwin was born October 23, 1936 in Ashton, IL the son of Benjamin & Emma (Holden) Smith. Edwin married Edna Donker on July 26, 1957 in Oregon, IL. He worked at Martin Marietta in Oregon for 23 years retiring in 1981. Edwin enjoyed his time with his family, cards, garden, his car rides, his dog Peaches, watching Wrestling, old westerns, and rodeos. Edwin is survived by his wife: Edna Smith, Oregon, IL; Sons: Larry (Friend Mary) Smith, Leaf River, IL; Tim (Yvonne) Smith, Rockford, IL; Daughters: Kathy (Ralph) Long, Mt. Morris, IL and Sheila Miller, Sterling, IL; 4 grandchildren: Joe Travis, Maria Travis both of Freeport, IL, Kate (Devin) Miller, Las Vegas, NV, and Jack Miller, Sterling, IL; step-granddaughter: Lisa (Donald) Moore, Rockford, IL; 2 brothers: Warren (Maggie) Smith, Byron, IL and Delano Smith, Dixon, IL. Edwin is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: John, Harry, and David; 1 sister: Charlotte. Memorial services will be Monday November 21, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL with Rev. Frank Lay officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Daysville Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday November 21, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. until services time in Finch Funeral Home.
