Edna Boyer

November 4, 1947 — August 9, 2024

Battle Creek, MI

Edna Boyer departed this earthly life to begin eternal life with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, on August 9, 2024. She passed over during a peaceful sleep in her bed with her kitty nestled beside her.

Edna was born in Dixon, Illinois on November 4th, 1947, to her parents Clifford and Lillie Gilman (Waggoner). Edna was the fourth of five children.

Edna graduated from Dixon High School in 1965 where she performed in the high school choral group, The Twelve Bells.  She loved to sing and her voice was angelic.

After high school, she moved to the south and met her husband, Randy Carter, and started her family. She worked for State Farm Insurance and was busy raising her two children and eventually returned to Illinois (Mt. Morris) and began her career at Kable Printing where she worked for many years. She married her 2nd husband, Larry Boyer, in 1986, and later became the Manager at Mobil gas station for many years before transitioning to Kable News Company. Once her children were grown, she moved to Polo, Illinois and finished her working career with KNC, and eventually retired in 2016.

Edna had endured a few medical issues later in life, and decided to move to Michigan to be closer to her children, and to enjoy her retirement.

Edna was known for her amazing potato salad and taco dip. The whole family would request these for family get-togethers and her recipes will be carried on for generations.

Edna loved God, and tried to instill His teachings to her children in everything she did. We know she is singing His praises again at the foot of His throne, waiting for the day we can all be together again.

Edna is survived by her two children, Miranda Bigelow (Carter) and Dan Carter, both currently residing in Michigan. Her family was a very important part of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Lillie Gilman (Waggoner), her brother John Gilman, and her brother James (Danny) Gilman.

In addition to her children, she is also survived by her two sisters, Jean Berg (Gilman) and Beverly Stultz (Gilman), her two grandchildren, Justin and Jasmine Bigelow, and numerous nephews, nieces, and other extended family members who all loved her very much, and will grieve her loss, but also will rejoice in knowing she’s with her Father.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M., Friday, August 16th, 2024 at Finch Funeral Home, followed by the burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until service in Finch Funeral Home on Friday August 16, 2024.
