Doris S. Brinker - 87 1/19/1924 - 1/28/2011

Mt. Morris, IL - Doris S. Brinker, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on January 28, 2011 at Chapel Hill Community in Canal Fulton, Ohio. Doris was born on January 19, 1924, the daughter of George S. and Alma (Snodgrass) Satterfield in Jefferson County, TN. She graduated from Maury High School, Dandridge, TN in 1941 and later moved to Mt. Morris, IL with family members. She married Gerald Brinker of Mt. Morris on July 18, 1943 with whom she celebrated 53 anniversaries prior to his death in 1997. Doris was a member of the Mt. Morris Disciples United Methodist Church and retiree of Kable News Company. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who, besides being devoted to the needs of her family, enjoyed baking, sewing, and tending her garden. Doris was an avid reader and in later life became interested in tracing her Scotch-Irish ancestry through genealogy. Doris is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Dale) Riley, Seville, OH; Sally (Alan) Behrens, El Reno, OK; Susan (Richard) Billington, Westfield, IN; Stephanie (Steve) Jones, Canal Fulton, OH; Sheila (Denny) Davis, Mt. Morris, IL; Son, Darrel (Lori) Brinker, Massillon, OH; 12 Grandchildren; 21 Great-Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Doris was preceded in death by her brothers George E. Satterfield (who died in infancy), Cecil Satterfield, Phoenix, AZ; Ralph Satterfield, Leaf River, IL; Donald Satterfield, Mt. Morris, IL; and sisters Bertha Satterfield, Mt. Morris, IL and Ina Shaver, Alcoa, TN. She was also preceded in death by granddaughter Jennifer Jones, Canal Fulton, OH. Funeral Service will be held Saturday February 5, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the Mt. Morris Disciples United Methodist Church with Pastor Bradley Foster officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. till Service time February 5, 2011 in the Methodist Church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport, IL. Memorials in honor of Doris may be given to the Mt. Morris Disciples United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
