Doris D Bergman

Wausau, WI, Doris D. Bergman, age 87, formerly of Mt. Morris, IL, died peacefully at Hospice House in Wausau, WI on June 15, 2016. She was born on May 26, 1929 in Niles, OH the daughter of Vernon & Effie (Burton) Lux. At age 1, Doris moved with her parents to Mt. Morris, IL where she spent the next 83 years of her life. As a young girl, Doris performed on stage with her parents in her father's magic show. One of Doris' fondest memories is of Madam Houdini staying one night in the Lux's Mt. Morris Home. Doris managed the family's Dee Lux Shop appliance store for several years; but will be most remembered for teaching scores of children and adults how to play the piano. Doris operated the "Bergman Music Studio" for 51 years. During the 1980 presidential campaign, Doris provided the piano accompaniment for candidate Ronald Reagan's Northern Illinois rally. In 2013, Doris Moved to Wisconsin to be closer to her family. Doris was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by daughter: Diana Larson; sons: Don (Bonnie) and Vernon (Jan) Bergman; grandsons: Michael & Cameron Larson, Brent & Scott (Amanda) Bergman; granddaughter: Dr. Lindsay Schmidt; and great-grandchildren: Elsa and August Schmidt. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday June 21, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. in Disciples United Methodist Church, Mt. Morris, IL with Rev. David Poust officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL. Visitation will be held Monday June 20, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt Street, Mt. Morris, IL.
