Daryl Cave, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on June 28, 2022 at 76 years old.
Daryl was born on September 11, 1945 in Washington, IA. He was the third of four children of Don Oliver and Helen Bernice (Edmund) Cave. He moved from Iowa to Illinois in 1965 where he met his wife, Joan (Kroh) Cave. They were married August 19th, 1967 and have been farming for 55 years.
Daryl was a member of the Ogle County Farm Bureau Board, the Ogle County Fair Board, and the Evangelical Free Church of Mt. Morris. As a man full of integrity, kindness, and generosity, he was highly regarded among his family, friends, and farming community. He was a patient mentor and always welcoming to everyone. He loved being with his family and friends. He had a great interest in preserving the heritage of historical farming practices and enjoyed attending the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa with his family every year for over 70 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Clara Cave, and brother-in-law, Rowland Rees. He is survived by his wife, Joan; daughters Laurie (Mark) Barrett, Becky (Steve) Hodson, and Kristy (Jami) Peters; sisters, Donna Rees and Myrna (Steve) Ebling, 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his family.
A visitation will be held at Finch Funeral Home in Mt. Morris on July 1st, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Evangelical Free Church in Mt. Morris on July 2nd, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
Memorials may be given to the Evangelical Free Church and the Ogle County Fair.
