Clarence E Lumsden

Mt. Morris, IL, Clarence E Lumsden, age 94, passed away on Thursday June 2, 2022 in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Morris, IL. Clarence was born on August 10, 1927 in Pine Rock Township, IL the son of Ralph & Iva (Wilson) Lumsden.  He graduated from Polo High School class of 1945. Clarence was drafted into the US Army on August 7, 1951 until April 23, 1953 during the Korean Conflict earning 2 bronze service stars, United Nations service medal, and a combat infantry badge, after farming for a year in the Polo Area.  Clarence married Barbara Van Dyke on August 9, 1953 in Sterling, IL, and she preceded in death on July 9, 2009.  Clarence worked for 36 years at Ogle Service as a Petroleum salesman retiring in 1989.  In “retirement” he drove drive-away trucks for Dixon Myers Transportation until 2009.

Clarence is survived by his son Clark (Pam) Lumsden, Dixon, IL; sister in law: Mary Van Dyke, Mt. Morris, IL; several nieces and nephews.

Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, brother: Harry James; and sister: Della Young.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday June 8, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. in Mt. Morris Church of the Brethren with Pastor Rodney Caldwell officiating.  Burial will be in Silver Creek Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 7, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL
