Charles A. Forsyth, age 101, of Mt. Morris, IL passed away November 4, 2015 at Pinecrest Manor. Charles was born on July 24, 1914 in Cameron, WI the son of Iver E. and Jennie (Meyer) Forsyth. He graduated from Central High School in Superior, WI in 1932. Charlie served in the Army Medical Department during World War II, 1941-1945. He married Margaret Dickson on June 30, 1942 in Rockford, IL. She preceded him in death on January 25, 1975. He married Evelyn Ranson on December 10, 1975. She preceded him in death on April 11, 2015. Charlie's love of gardening led him to work at Beach Flower Shop in Chicago, IL after his discharge from the Army. He worked at Kable Printing Company from 1946 to retirement in 1975 as Foreman of the Mailing List Department. Charlie and Evelyn were volunteers at Pinecrest Nursing Home for over 29 years. He was a member of Mt. Morris Church of the Brethren, American Legion, Mt. Morris/Oregon Senior Centers, and the former Men's Garden Clubs of Mt. Morris and Oregon. He lived in the Mt. Morris/Oregon area since 1946. Charlie was a proud man, strongly devoted to family. His sense of humor was clever, his attitude positive, as he lived by his words "Never give up". Charlie loved to paint, create wood carvings, play cards, and laugh with friends and family. Charlie is survived by his Step-Daughter: Debra (Mark) Elliott of Oregon, IL, two Step-Grandchildren: Shawn (Kate) Elliott of Belton, MO and Amanda (Larry Marks) Elliott of Chicago, IL, two Step-Great Grandchildren: Emilee and Kara Elliott of Belton, MO, and several nieces and nephews. Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters. Visitation will begin at 10 am on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Mt. Morris Church of the Brethren with Service to follow at 11 am with Rev. Virginia Haney officiating. Burial of ashes will take place at Chapel Hill Cemetery at 11 am on Friday, November 13.
