Charles "Chuck" E Diehl

Mt. Morris, IL Charles "Chuck" E. Diehl, age 87, died Tuesday December 9, 2014 in Pinecrest Manor Nursing home, Mt. Morris, IL. Chuck was born December 16, 1926 in Mt. Morris Township, Ogle County, IL the son of Earl & Anna (Pieper) Diehl. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School and received a degree from Iowa State University. Chuck married Marjorie Golden on March 31, 1951 in Rockford, IL; she preceded him in death on March 10, 2004. Chuck was Member of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Chuck worked the family farm after returning from the service retiring in 2009. He was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Member of the Church council, Mt. Morris School Board Member, Mt. Morris Savings & Loan Board, Ogle Service Board, Farm Bureau Board, Ogle County Soil and Water Conservation Board, 4H Leader, Prairie Farmer Master Farmer, and he was a Conservation Farmer of the Year. Chuck is survived by his Children: Georgia (William) Novak, Hayward, WI; Scott (Barbara) Diehl, Mt. Morris, IL; Curt Diehl, Madison, WI. Grandchildren: Robert Novak, Hayward, WI; Jessica (Daniel) Rusert, San Diego, CA; Benjamin (Emily) Diehl, Leaf River, IL; Luke (Lacrisha) Diehl, Leaf River, IL; Kristen Diehl, Mt. Morris, IL. Great Grandchildren: Elise Rusert, Weston and Addison Diehl. Brother: Robert Diehl, Eagle River, WI. Sister: Marcia (Gene) Sweeney, Rockton, IL. Special Friend: Lois Steffen, Mt. Morris, IL. Chuck is preceded in death by his Parents, Wife: Marjorie, Sister: Mildred Woodard, and Great Grandson: Griffin Rusert. Memorial services will be Monday December 15, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Morris, IL with Rev. Josh Ehrler. Burial will be in Silver Creek Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL. Visitation will be Sunday December 14, 2014 from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL. Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church and/or Ogle County 4H Foundation.
