Charles William “Chuck” Devereaux, 82, of Mt. Morris, IL, (formerly of Aurora, IL) passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL. Chuck was born on February 19, 1942 in Aurora, IL, the son of Reed and Irma (Schacht) Devereaux. After graduating from East Aurora High School in 1960, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1966 and worked for Western Electric (later known as AT& T; and Lucent) for many years until his retirement. Survivors include his son, Scott; his nieces and nephews, Judith (Vonhoff) Haurykiewicz, David (Christine) Vonhoff, Cheryl Vonhoff, Daniel (Hollie) Carey, and Lori (Louis) Lee; his three great-nieces and five great-nephews; as well as his long-time friend, Jason White. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Lorraine (Devereaux) Vonhoff and Mary (Devereaux) Carey, his brother Willis Devereaux; as well as his brothers-in- law Frank Vonhoff and George Carey. Memorial contributions may be made in Chuck’s name to the Serenity Hospice and Home, 1658 S. IL Route 2, Oregon, IL or to the Granny Rose Animal Shelter, 613 River Lane, Dixon, IL. A private family service will be held at River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia, IL.
