Mt. Morris, IL, Carol W. (Mrs. Roger) Thorngren, age 91, died Monday August 26, 2013 in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Morris, IL; just 2 months after the couple had celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Carol was born February 9, 1922 in Whiteside County near the village of Coleta, IL the daughter of Oscar Fay & Gertie Mae (Jacobs) Peugh. Carol graduated from Milledgeville High School the Class of 1939; and she graduated from NIU Class of 1966 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Carol taught 6th grade language arts in Byron for 3 years before major surgery ended her teaching career. From childhood, Carol was a member of Disciples United Church, and then was a member of Disciples United Methodist Church after the merge. Carol participated in Church programs, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and enjoyed adult Sunday school class, where she made many treasured friends. Carol and Roger have 4 Children: Kris Thorngren, Nashville, TN; Mark Thorngren, Camarillo, CA; Philip Thorngren, Rockford, IL, and Andria Burchett, Geneva, IL. They also have 9 Grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by Parents, Brother: Kenneth Peugh, Sterling, IL and Sister: Kathleen Marshall, Mt. Morris, IL. Funeral services will be Friday August 30, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the Disciples United Methodist Church, Mt. Morris, IL with Rev. Dwight Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL. Visitation will be Friday August 30, 2013 in Disciples United Methodist Church from 1:00 P.M. till service time. Services are handled through Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL. Memorials may be made to Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home and Disciples United Methodist Church.
