LEAF RIVER, IL - Carol Jean Stukenberg, 65, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, in Trinity Medical Center at Terrace Park, Bettendorf, Iowa. Carol was born Dec. 4, 1944, in Chicago to Harold and Nan (Vought) Crummer. She married James L. Stukenberg on Aug. 21, 1965, in Rockford. She graduated from Freeport High School, Class of 1962. She graduated from Freeport Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. She was employed as a registered nurse at Byron Medical Center, Ogle County Health Department, Village of Progress, Oregon, and a School Nurse for Winnebago School District (known as Nurse Carol). Carol was a loving wife and mother. She was a Sunday school teacher, a foster parent of many, 4-H Leader of the Early Risers 4-H Club and was a member of the Leaf River Baptist Church. Survived by her husband, Jim; sons, Jamie (Theresa) Stukenberg of Rockford, Steven (Christine) Stukenberg of Woodstock; daughters, Amanda (Jesse) Godec of Columbia, Mo., and Jennifer (Juan) Hernandez of Dixon; grandchildren, Grace Hernandez and Camille Hernandez, both of Dixon, Sage Godec of Columbia; sisters, Judy (Joe) Reed of Freeport, Linda (Jack) Dickey of Travelers Rest, S.C., and Alice (Ron) Craven of Egan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents. Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, in Leaf River Baptist Church, 6941 N. Mount Morris Road; the Rev. Randy Newton will officiate. Burial in North Grove Christian Cemetery, Egan. Visitation from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, in Leaf River Baptist Church. Memorials to Leaf River Baptist Church or Village of Progress, Oregon.
