Betty M. Davis, 87, Mt. Morris, IL passed away peacefully at Pinecrest Manor on May 30, 2018. She was born April 22, 1931 in DeSmet, South Dakota. Betty was the daughter of Bloice and W. Blanche (Vaughn) Holverson. She graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1949. Betty married Darrel E. Davis in Mt. Morris on September 23, 1949. She was a member of the Mt. Morris Church of the Brethren. She was predeceased by her parents, son John, great granddaughter Amy Marie Griffin and sister Clarice Himert from Oregon. Betty is survived by her husband Darrel "Onzie" (married for 68 years), daughter Sharon of Mt. Morris, daughter Karen Dietrich of Mt. Morris and son Dennis "Denny" (Sheila) of Mt. Morris, 4 grandchildren: Erica (Stephen) Bell, James (Sara) Griffin, Amanda (Darren) Moser and Kristina (Andy) Thompson. Betty had 11 great grandchildren; Erin, EmilyGrace & Sadie Bell, Drew & Abi Moser, Kate & Addison Thompson and Colton, AshLee, Ryan Griffin & Avalyn Henry. Betty worked at Ben Franklin Store in Mt. Morris, Kable Printing (Racine) and helped Darrel on the farm. Betty and Darrel square danced for 40 years with the Blackhawk Twirlers and enjoyed many years of camping with a pop up camper and then their fifth wheel. When the Big Thompson Canyon flooded in 1976 in Colorado, Betty and Darrel went with the Church of the Brethren Disaster Relief to help clean up homes from the mud. Funeral service will be on Saturday, June 2 at 12 pm with visitation from 10 am until time of service at Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt Street, Mt. Morris, IL. 61054 with Pastor Terrance Freeman cousin from Lexington, KY. officiating. Private burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery near Mt. Morris at later date. A luncheon will be held at the Mt. Morris Moose Family Center following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been created for Camp Emmaus in Mt. Morris which is the Church of the Brethren camp.
