Oregon, IL - Bernadine Canfield, age 90 1/2, formerly of Oregon, IL in the Lighthouse Community, and life long member of Lighthouse Methodist Church, passed away October 4, 2010. She was a resident of Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Morris, IL., for the past 3 years. Bernadine was born, April 17, 1920, in Coleta, IL., a daughter of the late Ralph and Stella Pyse. As a life long resident of the Lighthouse community, she was active in many church functions while raising her family. Bernadine loved working in her garden which gave her many happy moments. Bernadine worked for Kline's Department Store of Dixon for 12+ years before she retired. Bernadine was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Canfield, a marriage that lasted 62 years before his passing in May of 2001. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father and mother, sisters; Ravine Pyse; Louella Wagenecht; Genevieve Fritz and brother Raymond Pyse. Surviving are daughters Beverly Johnson and husband Lyle Johnson of Bloomsburg, PA; Judy Banks and husband Charles Banks of St. Petersburg, Florida; one son, Wayne W. of Arkansas; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Phyllis Whitney of Dixon, IL and sister-in-law Dorothy (Raymond) of Dixon, IL. Arrangements are by Finch Funeral Home of Mt. Morris for cremation and burial. A memorial service is planned for October 23, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. in Lighthouse Methodist Church. Burial at Lighthouse Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Lighthouse Methodist Church of Oregon, IL., or Pinecrest Manor, Mt. Morris, Illinois.
