William E Hammond

William Earl Hammond, 89, of Leaf River, passed away on November 5th, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born April 10, 1935 to Dorcey and Carolyn Hammond. He was a lifelong Leaf River resident. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was even known to pan for gold in the mighty Leaf River. He was a gun enthusiast and was always polishing his collection. He could always be found in his shed tinkering on something or at lunchtime you could find him at McDonalds.

He married Janice Staas on October 16, 1954. They had 3 daughters and 1 son. He is survived by his daughters, Kim Bertram of Winnebago, Robin (Larry) Knodle of Bradenton, FL and Wendy Queen of Mt. Morris. He is survived by his 6 grandchildren, Clint (Leslie) Bertram, Eric (Stephanie) Bertram, Jared (Andrea) Bertram, Holly Bertram, Brosnan Queen, and Kendra Queen. He has 10 great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his parents and his wife, Janice; son, William (Joe); brothers, Frank and Robert; sisters, Cara Lou and Charlotte; son-in law, Norman Bertram.

Per Bill’s wishes there will be no services. A Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
